Milwaukee School of Engineering

Nine Wingers will board Amtrak for Milwaukee School of Engineering this summer where they will attend academic camps that delve into STEM careers.

Sterling Gadient, Clare Guse, Beatrix Lahammer, Gavin Plath, Alyssa Rice, Bentley Ricks, Piper Ryan, Marek Sparby and Kamari Williams will each spend an all-expenses paid week at MSOE.

The camps include Explore, Women in Technology, Focus on Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, Focus on Computer Engineering and Focus on Electrical Engineering.

Dwight Diercks, a Red Wing High School and Milwaukee School of Engineering graduate, and his wife Dian, are providing the scholarships.

Students in their applications had to outline career goals and describe how their preferred camp fits into future plans. Diercks reviewed the applications and awarded the scholarships, creating a connection between the high school and the college.

The camps are part of their long-term commitment to help transform his hometown district into a center of excellence in computer science, data science, and artificial intelligence.
