The Red Wing Aces have reached a milestone in their fundraising efforts for improvements to the Red Wing Athletic Field.
The capital improvement project went over the $500,000 mark Friday morning. Phase one of the project (first base line seating and first base viewing deck) will be this fall after the baseball season finishes up. A visit to "The Ath" now has white lines on the first base side showing where the new project construction will be located.
The group is looking to get to $650,000 mark next spring to start phase two of the project (press box, 3rd base deck) followed by field work in the Fall of 2027. There will be other upgrades at "The Ath" as well.
Red Wing and Cannon Falls are the two main sites for the 2028 Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament with Miesville being a third venue.
The 2026 State Tournament sites are Chaska, Jordan, New Prague and Shakopee. The 2027 State Tourney will be hosted by Cold Spring, Watkins and Avon.
