For the first time in All-Star Game history, a Home Run Derby-style swing-off determined the winner -- and it was the National League that came out on top 4-3 in the swing-off thanks to Philadelphia Phillies DH Kyle Schwarber hitting three home runs to give the Senior Circuit its second win in 12 years.
After 9 innings the score was 6-6. The format of the tiebreaker was that three players from each team would get three swings each, and the team with the most home runs at the end would win the All-Star Game. Well, the NL needed only two players to get there.
Joe Ryan’s dominant Midsummer Classic outing showed why every contending team in baseball should be attempting to pry him away from Minnesota ahead of the upcoming trade deadline. He struck out a pair of batters and needed just 10 pitches to twirl a flawless frame. Byron Buxton was 1-2 with a double and a run scored.
The WNBA announced this morning that Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride has been named by WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to replace injured Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard on Team Collier in the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game.
This will be the second time McBride has been selected as an All-Star as a member of the Lynx and the fifth time in her career.
McBride joins Lynx teammates Napheesa Collier and Courtney Williams as a member of Team Collier, led by Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations, Cheryl Reeve.
The 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game is slated to be played on Saturday, July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on ABC at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with TE Josh Oliver. The deal will keep Oliver with the Vikings through the 2028 season.
During the 2024 season, Oliver posted single-season career highs in receiving yards (258) and receiving touchdowns (three) and tied his career best in receptions with 22 in 15 games, including 12 starts.
According to Pro Football Focus, Oliver led the NFL among TEs with a 74.2 run blocking grade in 2024 (minimum 50% block snaps played) and earned the fourth-highest grade during the 2023 season with a 73.9.
