Lake City Police Commendation

Lake City Police Department Officer, Scott Bird, has recieved a Commendation for Heroic Actions During the May 29th water rescue.


The commendation letter reads:


Officer Bird, it is with great pride and gratitude that I commend you for your courageous actions during the water rescue incident on May 29, 2025, at Roschen Park in Lake City.At approximately 5:44 p.m., you responded swiftly to a critical situation involving a vehicle that had entered Lake Pepin.


Without hesitation and with full awareness of the risks involved, you entered the water alongside Lake City firefighters to reach the lone occupant trapped inside the submerged vehicle.


Your efforts, in coordination with our fire and EMS partners, directly contributed to the successful rescue and safe recovery of the individual. Your bravery, composure under pressure, and unwavering commitment to the safety of others exemplify the highest standards of our profession.


Your actions reflect not only your personal integrity and dedication but also bring great credit to the Lake City Police Department and the law enforcement community as a whole.This commendation will be placed in your personnel file as a permanent record of your exceptional service.


On behalf of the entire department and the citizens we serve, thank you for your heroism and professionalism.
