Three Rivers Community Action's plans for a multi (48) unit modest-income housing project in Red Wing that would include 12 supportive units, has the support of the city’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority.
Executive Director Kurt Keena says it seems everyone knows the city needs more affordable housing, but one sticking point has been neighbors concerns surrounding the proposed project near Walmart on Technology Drive.
Keena says the HRA supports the project and it’s proposed location and Three Rivers has a good track record in Red Wing.
The Red Wing City Council has already voted to pledge support toward donating land and creating a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district for the project.
There are still several steps before the land donation or TIF district will be finalized, and other work needs to be done before the project can become a reality.
