Historical Society Civil War Flag

For its 2026 season, the Wabasha County Historical Society is excited to announce that it is hosting a hand-stitched replica of a well-known Civil War flag.

The original 20-by-30-foot flag was created by the ladies of the Republican Club in Reads Landing, Minnesota, to show their support for the Union during the  Civil  War.

According to the Plainview News, the replica flag currently hanging at the museum was stitched by the women of the Third Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, a modern-day reenactment  group. 

While  it  is only one-third the size of the original, it is still impressive in  scale.

This display is part of the Wabasha County Historical Society’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Visitors are invited to see the flag during the museum’s open hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 4 pm.
