Highway 63 June Detour

A reminder, plan for extra travel time if you drive on Highway 63 about 4 miles southwest of Lake City because you will be detoured through the end of the month, weather permitting.

The work is for rock removal on an adjacent slope, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Wabasha County is removing some of the rock slope northwest of Highway 63 to improve the sight distance from Wabasha County Road 15 to southbound Highway 63.

Highway 63 will be closed during the approximately month long work to excavate the slope and ditch areas. Wabasha CR 15 will be closed at times during construction near the intersection with Highway 63.

Motorists traveling south from Lake City on Highway 63 will be detoured onto Wabasha County Highway 2 to Wabasha County Road 33 to go around the work zone.

The detour is reverse for northbound traffic.
