Goodhue 29 Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 28 (Overtime)

An instant classic Thursday night as the Wildcats edged the Buccaneers in a thriller.

The game was a see-saw affair that saw Goodhue tie the game at 22-22 on a 42 yard touchdown pass from Luke Roschen to Owen Roschen with Christian Monjarez adding the PAT with 6:33 left in the fourth quarter.

In overtime, the Buccaneers had the ball first from the 10 yard and took the lead on 7 yard run by Brady Murphy, his third touchdown run of the game. W-E-M missed the two point conversion, which was critical.

Goodhue responded with Luke Roschen finding Owen Roschen on a nine yard touchdown pass on third and nine. Needing just a PAT to win, Christian Monjarez split the uprights to give Wildcats the dramatic win.

Goodhue was outgained by a large margin and W-E-M had a big edge in time of possession but the Wildcats prevailed to improve to 11-0 on a magical season.

Goodhue moves on to the State Class AA semi-finals next Friday at US Bank Stadium with a game at either 9am or 4:30pm depending on how the rest of the Class AA quarterfinals play out.

An excellent showing for the Red Wing Wingers Girls Swim & Dive team as they placed 3rd Friday night in the Section 1A Finals at Rochester Century High School.
