Girls Hockey:

Red Wing 6 Windom 0-The Wingers blanked the Eagles in their season opener Saturday at Prairie Island Arena.

Eva Van Campen scored her first varsity goal in the first period to put the Wingers up 1-0. The Wingers added four second period goals as Peyton Nelson, Stella Johnson, Addison Hoppman and Nora Butenhoff lit the lamp to give Red Wing a 5-0 lead.

Peyton Nelson scored her second goal of the game seven seconds into the third period to close out the scoring.

Red Wing outshot Windom 54-19 with junior Josie Mrozek getting her first career shutout in goal for the Wingers.

The Wingers host Waseca in their next game Saturday, November 15th at Noon on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE/KCUE 99FM and on-line at www.kcueradio.com with Jack Colwell calling the action.

Practices start today for girls basketball and boys hockey in Minnesota with a number of area schools having scrimmages Saturday.
