High School Football:

Pending school board approval, Red Wing High School announced Wednesday the hiring of Pat Kelly as Head Football Coach.

Kelly has been the assistant head coach for the past five seasons. He is a 1989 graduate of Red Wing Central High School and played football, hockey and baseball. Kelly played college football at Mankato State, serving as captain his senior year.

Kelly went on to a 25 year career in law enforcement, then served as a police liaison at Rochester Mayo High School. He currently is the Safety Coordinator for Red Wing Public Schools.

Kelly has three sons and eight nephews who have gone through the Red Wing football program.

Kelly takes over for Brent Stinson, who was the head coach for the last three seasons.

The Wingers were 0-9 in 2024 and have won just four games over their last nine seasons. The Wingers last winning season was in 2015 when they were 6-4 under then head coach Rickey Foggie.
