BOYS BASKETBALL: WILDCATS ROLL IN STATE TOURNEY OPENER


Goodhue 70 Perham 49-The Wildcats raced out to an early double-digit lead and cruised to the win over the Yellowjackets in the MSHSL Class AA quarterfinal matchup at the Target Center.


Goodhue led 16-5 less than seven minutes into the game and 36-18 at the half. Goodhue was 10-26 from three point land in the game while Perham was just 2-13 with both of the three pointers in the final two minutes of the game.


Alex Loos led Goodhue with 20 points with Luke Roschen adding 17 points. Cody Ryan had 11 points, 7 rebounds and added two blocked shots. Michael Roschen added 10 points. Cypress Thiel and Isiah Farrell had 10 points apiece for Perham.


Goodhue is 30-1 on the season. The top seeded Wildcats face defending Class AA champion Albany in the quarterfinals Friday at 6pm at Williams Arena on KWNG 106.


Albany blitzed Jackson County Central 85-49 in the late game at Target Center Tuesday.


The other games Tuesday at Target Center were the Class AAAA quarterfinals.
