Halloween Safety

ree

Kids of all ages and parents will be out trick or treating on Halloween Friday and the Red Wing Police Department is reminding everyone collecting candy to stay safe.

Assistant Police Chief Brian Metling, says Halloween is a fun night but with it getting darker earlier and lots of little ghosts and goblins out and about, take extra care.

Some safety tips for Halloween:

Make sure costumes are visible and flame-resistant, use reflective tape or glow sticks, and avoid masks that obstruct vision.

Supervise trick-or-treaters in well-lit, familiar areas, have them walk in groups, and only visit homes with their porch lights on.

Always inspect candy for tampering before eating and use battery-operated candles in jack-o'-lanterns.
