A new educational tool is now available to nurses, providers, and other clinicians completing Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification classes at Gundersen St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Clinics. Instructors now have access to an advanced ECG rhythm generator used to simulate cardiac emergencies.
Depending on the objectives of the course, settings can be modified to create different real-life scenarios that teach participants how to read the rhythms and administer appropriate treatment.
Phillip Schwend, DO, general surgeon at Gundersen St. Elizabeth's provided the funding for this teaching tool, which enhances training for clinicians that are required to complete certification classes every two years.
