Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office Fisherman Scare

ree

On Wednesday, June 17th, at approximately 12:53 a.m., the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office responded to an attempt to locate call for a fisherman at Frontenac State Park.

He had not been heard from in over an hour and there was cause to believe he may have been injured in a fall from a bluff. Attempts to locate the fisherman through his phone were unsuccessful.

The Sheriff’s Office deployed a thermal drone, K-9 Team, and launched watercraft to search for the fisherman.

Deputies in the watercraft went from Frontenac to Wacouta on the Mississippi River without locating the victim.

Deputies on the water continued their search, stopping every quarter mile on the Mississippi River attempting to make voice contact with the victim.

Eventually, the officers were successful in their search and located the male on shore with minor injuries.

GCSO staff were able to get him into their boat and back to shore where he was later reunited with family.
