The Goodhue County Board has finished a draft cannabis ordinance and is holding a public hearing this morning at 9:30 am in the County Board Room on the 3rd Floor of the Goodhue County Government Center 509 W 5th Street, Red Wing.
The proposed Ordinance will regulate cannabis retail registration procedures, registration enforcement, and use of cannabis products in places of public accommodation and will apply to all areas outside of City limits within Goodhue County.
The nine page draft ordinance includes provisions that Goodhue County will limit the number of cannabis retail business locations to no more than one registration per 12,500 residents as allowed in state law. Municipal cannabis stores and Prairie Island’s cannabis stores won’t be included in that number.
No cannabis businesses will be allowed within 1,000 feet of a school or another cannabis operation and within 500 feet of a daycare, a residential treatment facility or an attraction within a public park used by children.
Cities within Goodhue County can own and operate one municipal cannabis retail business and will be subject to the same requirements as non-municipal cannabis retailers.
The full draft ordinance can be read at goodhuecountymn.gov.
