Five for Food Surpasses Goal

Five for Food, an initiative of the Greater Lake City Community Foundation for the Lake City Food Shelf, exceeded the $50,000 goal for 2024 with a record total of $50,661 raised.   

The total raised last year was $45,611.

Due to the increased food shelf use and increased cost of food and expenses, the goal for 2024 was increased to 50,000. 

Five for Food has raised over $312,000 in ten years, which has allowed the Lake City Food Shelf to provide over one million dollars of food for those in need in the greater Lake City area. 

It is the largest source of donations to the Lake City Food Shelf each year. 

Five for Food coordinator for the Greater Lake City Community Foundation expressed appreciation for donors of funds and recognized the Lake City Shopper/Graphic and Lake Hits 95 radio for support with publicity.
