Evers & Hauschildt Princess Kay of the Milky Way

Monica Evers of Kellogg and Nicole Hauschildt of Zumbro Falls are among 10 finalists for this year’s competition in August during the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul.

Princess Kay serves as goodwill ambassador for Minnesota’s dairy farmers.

The Plainview News reports Evers, Hauschildt, and the other candidates will have their likenesses sculpted in 90 pounds of butter during the Fair.

The Princess Kay winner will spend the next year representing Minnesota’s dairy farmers to consumers. ­

Princess Kay is selected through a three-phase process. Each candidate must be a county dairy princess in Minnesota and participate in a leadership event in May.

The candidates submit an application, participate in a professional interview, prepare and deliver a speech, and participate in a mock media interview.

They are judged on their general knowledge of the dairy industry, communication skills, and enthusiasm for promoting dairy.
