City of Plainview Cannabis Decision

Greg Taylor

The Plainview City Council last week made a decision as to how to approach legal cannabis after the first of the year, but all the details have yet to be sorted out.

Mayor Aaron Luckstein explains the state of Minnesota has set many of the regulations but has left it up to each city whether they want to have their own set of local regulations or let the county set the ordinance rules and abide by them.

He says the Council decided to keep local control of lower potentecy edibles that have been legal for some time.

Luckstein says they voted to defer to Wabasha County on the higher potency products while they collect more data before a final vote in December.

Luckstein says the ordinance passed last week will be drafted and brought to council in December which will include a public hearing, before a final vote.

One thing is certain, there will a minimum of two dispensaries, as per state regualtions, opening in Wabasha County.
