City Council Approves Preliminary Apartment Plan

Another vacant property in Red Wing may soon find new life in the form of apartments.
Last week, The Red Wing City Council approved the Preliminary Development Plan for a Conditional Use Permit/Planned Unit Development at the former St. Joseph's Church auxiliary building at 480 Eighth St.
The building was recently sold to a new developer after the previous developer's plan did not receive approval.
The new developer plans to convert the building into six market-rate apartments (equally split between one-, two-, and three-bedroom units) and create a 17-stall surface parking lot on site behind the building.
