Cannon Valley Trail Sections Closed

The Cannon Valley Trail has closed two separate sections around Red Wing for major repair and replacement projects.

Mile 13.5 to Mile 17.5 is closed for slope failaure repairs.

Work continues on repairing slope failures at Mile 14 and Mile 16. A barrier fence still needs to be installed to complete work at Mile 14, while Mile 16 is nearly finished — though asphalt will be needed there as well.

Due to the complexity of this project, completion may be pushed to this fall.

It’s recommended that trail users utilize the Welch Station Access or the Cannon Falls Accesses.

Mile 15.5, Cannon Bottom Road, to mile 19.7, Old West Main is closed through June 2027 for bridge and asphalt replacement.

Trail users are encouraged to use Welch Station Access, Cannon Falls Access, or Cannon Bottom Road Access.

Cannon Bottom Road Access will remain open throughout the entire duration of Project Two. Estimated completion is June 2027.

Violators may be charged with a misdemeanor, which carries a penalty of up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail.

There are no alternative routes for these trail closures.
