The Lake City Police Department is proud to announce that Officer Tony Cox has been selected as the 2026 Officer of the Year by American Legion Post 110, following a nomination by Chief Cory Kubista.

A lifelong Lake City resident, Officer Cox has dedicated 16 years to serving our community.

He began his law enforcement career as a reserve officer in 2010, became a part-time officer in 2014, and joined the department full-time in 2018.

Today, Tony serves as the School Resource Officer at Lincoln High School and Bluff View Elementary, where he helps build relationships with students and staff while supporting school safety.

He also serves the department as a less-lethal projectile training instructor, evidence technician, and captain of the reserve unit.

Tony, a life long Lake City resident, was nominated in recognition of his dedication and the many qualities he brings to the department.

Away from work, Tony is a proud father of four who enjoys hunting and working on cars.
