River Travel Magazine has announced the 2021 Best Holiday River Town Contest final voting round.
Brent Hanifl, Media Director for River Travel Media, says the national survey focused on the best Holiday Towns along all river communities in the United States from the Mississippi River to the Chattahoochee River in the south to the Clark Fork River, to the Hudson River in the east, and to everything in between.
Hanifl says nominations were based on population so smaller communities like Red Wing and Lake City both won, making the final list.
Nominations ranged from quaint river towns and small alpine villages with charming holiday traditions to bigger river communities bustling with holiday events and spectacular light shows.
Winners from the first round of nominations include Stockholm, Wisconsin, and Lake City. Red Wing and Winona tied for 3rd place in cities between 15,001 and 30,000 people.
